A to Z - K is for Kitsch !

Hey All !

Guess what...?

Yup ! It's A to Z time !

This week's letter is K, and we had the option to go for "Kitchen Sink" or "Kitsch" theme. I considered the Kitchen Sink idea, but I had too many thoughts swimming around in my head as to what I could do, so I simplified it and went with Kitsch.

kitsch:

NOUN

[MASS NOUN]
Art, objects, or design considered to be in poor taste because of excessive garishness or sentimentality, but sometimes appreciated in an ironic or knowing way

Only one thing popped into my head when I decided on Kitsch. That thing was Cath Kidston.

Cath Kidston is an English designer most famous for her floral prints. I adore her work & am dying to get my hands on one of her floral bags one day! You can visit her online shop HERE.

Out of all of her prints and designs, the one I kept coming back to was a strawberry design which I think is a few years old now as it's not on her current website.

But this is my inspiration for today's nail art.

It's a little unusual and different from the normal floral designs you see around, and you know me. I love unusual things!

So I started off with a base of "Coconut" scented polish by Models Own, then mattified it with Barry M Matte top coat to make the acrylic paint easier to adhere to the polish. Then I painted the strawberries.

I initially went with a matte top coat because I like the way it looked ( and I still do - my brain fights with itself whether it prefers shiny or matte all the time )

But I really wanted to see it with a high shine top coat, so I applied one coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl, and of course I loved it !

Which did you prefer ? Matte or Shiny ? and what did you think of the unusual strawberry print? Let me know in the comments below! :)

As always you can check previous posts in the A to Z series by going to the main Hub page HERE.

Don't forget to have a look at all the other blog posts everyone has done via the inlinkz below!

Until next time!

  1. I like both but I like the glossy most, strange as I'm usually drawn more to matte looks (although refuse to wear them because they chip so fast!
